I find the statement that "Euclid's Window" was well received a complete misdirection. In fact, Robert Langlands (defined by Wikipedia as "one of the most significant mathematicians of the 20th century" -- an accurate characterization) begins his review (available at www.ams.org/notices/200205/fea-langlands.pdf) of the book thus:

This is a shallow book on deep matters, about which the author knows next to nothing.

(the rest of the review is even more scathing). So Mlodinow as a scinece popularizer may sit well with some, but certainly not with others. I changed the adjective to "mixed" and added a pointer to the review.

Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

  • Template:Infobox Scientist should be added
  • Photograph should be added from a source with a free license
  • Basic biographical information required, including precise date and place of birth, positions held (with dates), any family details
  • Article needs expanding and should emphasise reasons for notability of subject
  • Article should reorganised to give a clearer division between research work and writing
  • Information on research should be expanded and references required
  • References should be added, preferably in the inline format; some of the external links should be converted to references

Pronunciation

[edit]

I suspect a pronunciation listing would be helpful to many people - but I'm afraid I don't know how Mlodinow is pronounced. Any chance someone who knows can put it in? EPAstor (talk) 18:07, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't do pronunciation notation but it's "mu-lod-in-OAVE." Every letter is pronounced, the w is pronounced as a v. The first o is short as in "pop," the second o is long as in "poke" Wikiditm (talk) 16:19, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
